How we price gold

Gold is the fastest category we handle because there's no authentication debate once purity and weight are confirmed — a hallmarked bar from a recognized refiner (PAMP, Credit Suisse, Valcambi) or a common bullion coin (American Eagle, Krugerrand, Canadian Maple Leaf) tests quickly and prices directly against spot minus our fee, no guesswork involved. That's also why LTV runs higher here than any other asset class: the collateral is as close to cash-equivalent as anything we take.

Scrap and unmarked pieces need an XRF test or acid test at appraisal to confirm karat weight before we can quote — this adds maybe ten minutes, not a delay worth worrying about. Numismatic and rare coins are the one exception: if a coin's value is mostly collector premium rather than metal content, we price it more like jewelry than bullion, since that premium isn't something we can reliably recover.

• 4–6 clear photos of the asset (front, back, sides, condition detail)
• Reference number, date code, or model identifier
• Documentation: papers, certificates, provenance, GIA grading reports
• A brief note about how much you want to borrow and your timeline
